In My Kitchen is a wonderful monthly series originating with Celia from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial, and now (until next month) hosted by the incomparable Liz from Bizzy Lizzy’s Good Things.  Head over to Liz’ blog for a full list of the participants, and find out what’s happening in kitchens across the globe.

This post sees the transition from a dry and hot summer where I didn’t feel like doing anything much in the kitchen to a cool and damp(ish) Canberra autumn.  In my kitchen this month…

I’ve been consistently baking a basic sourdough each week…

As well as last week trying a fruit and nut sourdough with figs, prunes, raisins, walnuts and hazelnuts…

I helped my dad make an amazing coffee whisky Bavarian torte – he’s been doing some incredible experimenting with cakes and patisserie recently (the baby one pictured is whisky free for the kids)…

I cooked one of my mother in law’s family recipes while they were visiting recently – classic salmon patties….

And had fun making little lamb burgers with tomato brioche buns…

As we see the last of the summer crops and move into autumn produce, I made a small batch of end of season peach jam…

Baked a delicious fig and plum slice

And helped a friend ‘use up’ her amazing crop of Lemon Drop tomatoes in a tomato chilli jam…

Plus took a pile home to munch on and add to a chicken couscous salad…

What’s in your kitchen (or garden) this month?
