eat warm with butter

I really love Easter baking, and make multiple dozens of my favourite hot cross buns every year.  Last year I added extremely cute brioche bunnies to the mix – for all those kids who aren’t fans of dried fruit – and am planning on trying my hand at a Simnel cake this year, complete with Nigella-recommended blow torching!

Both recipes are very straightforward, and the brioche dough can even be made several days ahead.  The hot cross buns aren’t too sweet, but have lots of fruit and freshly ground spices.  I’m thinking of trying a sourdough batch this year too.

So this isn’t a new recipe I’m afraid, but an encouragement (if you don’t already) to try a bit of Easter baking.  Let me know if you give them a try.

I’m also interested to know: what are your essentials to bake, or cook, at Easter?   I’m always keen to add to my list 🙂
